      1. This seems a poor substitute for strong privacy regulation of these companies more generally.       So yes, TikTok seems uniquely bad because it appears to have targeted specific US persons at Chinese bidding, but the same or more data is openly for sale by an industry regulated only by minor and infrequent public backlashes.
