American police forces, large and small, have become totally insulated from the slightest hint of civilian control, and it’s fast becoming an even larger danger than the thousand or two they leave dead each year.       Consider former Wisconsin governor Scott Walker, who used his authority to end collective bargaining for many public sector unions. Very quickly, the police “unions” made it very clear to him that such treatment for them would end badly for him. And so it didn’t happen.
