@sarahemclaugh German legal norms come from a different basis and WW2 experiences. I’m not comfortable second-guessing them using American sensibilities. We might be shocked by France’s anti-clericalism or the UK’s libel laws, but just writing this story as if it was in Milwaukee is culturally illiterate.On twitter.com
