      But we shouldn't lose sight of the long tail of lies and betrayal of country that Trumpism leaves behind. A firm commitment to truth, and a determination not to indulge in extreme policies, even when we think them right, will be required to move forward.

        There's just two things we can never compromise on: truth and norms. They bind us together, and make our system work. Republicans-turned-Trumpists abandoned those, and the result was treachery against their values and their country, and a look into the political abyss for us all.
