    1. One minor addition here. Donald Trump is many things, but he's not a politician and what he practices isn't politics.     He has no policies, no ideas, no objectives. He'll go along with the policies of the grifters who surround him briefly, to the extent they energize some part of the base or suit his vanity. But there's no permanence or consistency at all.

      He didn't invent birtherism, COVID denialism, QAnon, or any of the other wacko ideas that imbue his supporters with zeal for his unique brand of self-aggrandizing hate-marketing. But he feeds and is fed by those things, with the only purpose being to say "look at me!"
